Y es, fashion weeks are intended for designers to display their latest and greatest pieces on the runway. However, we’d be lying if we didn’t admit that we come just as much for the street style too! Every year at African Fashion International: Cape Town Fashion Week, the streets are flooded with fashion influencers, budding fashionistas and bloggers. These are the real people that fashion enthusiasts like us want to see! It gives us inspiration, helps us forecast trends, and gives us a sense of who our customers really are.
Check out the looks that caught our eye at 2018’s Cape Town Fashion Week:
Styles of print and pastel colors made a splash on the runways this year at AFI’s 2018 Cape Town Fashion Week. Ensembles of print in sets ran wild during the 4-day event. This attendee took the trend to the next level as he paired it with pastel blue and a standout beret hat.
This look gives us preppy meets street style. Her classic Calvin Klein tee and school girl pleated skirt plays well with her oversized blazer. To finish off the look she laced her lips with red to sync the underlining colors.
We see yellow as the color of 2018 for sure. Think about it. It immediately stands out from the crowd and pairs well with all other colors. From whites and forest greens to deep shaded purples and pinks, yellow is definitely a staple.
This look gave us androgynous feels. From the padded and squared off crop jacket to the oversized denim joggers, this come-and-go look finishes off seamlessly with a feminine clutch.
Pastels are definitely in but what we will see even more of is duality. There will be tone on tones and monochromatic trends throughout fashion this year. This bubble gum high waisted skirt over petal pink is the perfect depiction of what we foresee.
We saw hip-hop meets sport when we laid eyes on this look. The shades give us Aaliyah all day and the vintage Houston Texans Football sports jacket gives us a touch of classic fandom.
